Home Health Aide (2)
JOB DESCRIPTION: HOME HEALTH AIDE POSITION SUMMARY:

The Home Health Aide operates under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or therapist, providing services to ensure the client’s personal comfort is maintained.

Report to: Nursing Supervisor QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have completed one of the following:
    • Completion of a 75-hour training course and competency assessment, or
    • A competency evaluation approved by the Commissioner or
    • Equivalent training in another jurisdiction that matches the 75-hour course or
    • Participation in a training or competency evaluation program that meets Medicare requirements for Home Health Aides, as outlined in Title 42, Section 484.36 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
  • Have satisfied the following requirements:
    • Fulfill the requirements outlined in Title XVIII of the Social Security Act for Nursing Assistants in Medicare-certified nursing facilities or successfully complete a Nursing Assistant training program approved by the State of Minnesota; and
    • Have had at least twenty (20) hours of supervised practical training or experience performing Home Health Aide tasks in a home setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or finish the supervised practical training or gain relevant experience within one (1) month of starting work on Home Health Aide duties; or
    • Completed an approved Home Health Aide training program before June 1, 1993.
  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Show a caring attitude towards providing care for those who are ill.
  • Be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English to follow the Plan of Care and complete the required documentation.
  • Demonstrate maturity to handle the responsibilities of the role effectively.
  • Show reliability, professionalism, and the capacity to follow instructions.
  • Demonstrate dependability, tact, and the ability to follow orders.
  • Maintain good physical and mental health, including up-to-date TB testing.
  • Have U.S. citizenship or provide proof of a valid work permit for non-citizens.
